VPS Platform Features

Automatic Failover

All our pools have spare hypervisors which will take the failover load should there be any instances of overloading or system hypervisor failure. This process is transparent to the user who may never realize there has been a failover event.

Managed or Self-Managed

SIS can manage your services or you can self-manage your own hosted services if you prefer. Our cloud-based services are configured as self-managed as standard but we are happy to manage your servers for a monthly fee. There are benefits to choosing either method depending on your skill level, budget and business needs. The main issue is that of technical understanding although our control panels are designed to provide the user with an intuitive interface which has contextual help, backed up by our own technical support services. Fully self-managed hosting services will require some technical knowledge related to operating system installation and the upgrading of applications & operating system components and will typically require regular administration resources. If self-management is too much of a headache, then we can provide all the expertise you need to maintain your hosting services and manage everything for you.

Performance

  • Our hypervisors are run on dual quad-core Xeon processors with access to a total of 128GB of fast access RAM.
  • Clustered scalability VM resource pools can be scaled up to a maximum of 16-cores, 32GB of RAM and 2TB of protected storage
  • SSD accelerated disk access

Live/Hot migration

Live or hot migration is available on our platform for most operating systems. If a hypervisor becomes inoperable due to hardware failure etc. the active node will re-establish automatically on another server in a process that is transparent to the user. This failover mechanism takes a matter of minutes and causes minimal service disruption.

Storage Area Network (SAN)

To provide you fast data speeds and high levels of reliability, our Storage Area Networks are based on proven solutions that provide superior performance.

  • 10Gbit/s iSCSI super-fast data access and delivery technologies
  • RAID 10 for high performance data delivery with robust redundancy
  • Checksums to maintain data integrity
  • Compression algorithms to make maximum use of the available storage resources
  • SSD acceleration available through a multipath architecture;
  • SIS configure all Storage Area Networks to provide maximum availability for the client

Backups

SIS maintains a strict backup policy to ensure that our clients’ data is fully replaceable and accessible at all times. There are understandable concerns about data integrity in cloud applications and where data is co-located.

To ensure we are able to deliver data whenever it is required, our SAN environment has a minimum of N+1 redundancy. This means every piece of data is available on at least two SANs at any time. Automatic restoration to a new node will take place immediately should any data corruption be reported by the data storage management system.
There are two types of data snapshot levels to choose from:

  • Long Term Backups – 48 x hourly, 14 x daily, 4 x weekly and 3 x monthly
  • Short Term Backups – 24 x hourly, 7 x daily

For an increased level of data security you can request a backup of your cloud server backed to a third NAS where you can then convert backups to images to create instant clones of your configured server in just minutes.

If you need some help choosing the best cloud server for your desired application, Contact us today, or leave a message, and we’ll have someone get back to you to you to discuss your requirements in more detail.
